About Joanne Tunnicliffe Art

Buckinghamshire and Cornwall based artist Joanne Tunnicliffe has been painting for several years. Her love of composition started twenty five years ago initially through photography as a member of the London Camera Club. An avid learner throughout her life Joanne has completed a number of extended art and painting courses with Windsor Art Group, London Drawing Group, artist Lynn Kiddie in Somerset, artist Kieran Styles (Oxfordshire and Scilly), artist Maxine Hart, artist Gary Long, courses with the Newlyn School of Art, the ‘Porthmeor Programme’, a six-month intensive course with the St Ives School of Painting, and more recently two summer oil painting courses  in Florence at the Apollon Art Academy.

Joanne finds herself truly in her element, her creative spirit most fulfilled, when perched at the water's edge on the enchanting island of Kastellorizo, sketch pad balanced on her knee and watercolours at the ready. It is in these transcendent moments that she channels the breathtaking panoramas before her—the crystalline azure waters, the rugged Mediterranean coastline, and the golden light that bathes this Aegean paradise—translating this sensory feast into artistic expressions that allow viewers to experience the serene majesty of this idyllic haven through her discerning eyes.

The island of Kastellorizo is very special to Joanne, a sanctuary for both heart and soul where creative inspiration flows as freely as the gentle Mediterranean breeze. The island's symphonic blend of sapphire waters, terracotta rooftops, and verdant hillsides has become not merely a recurring subject in her portfolio, but rather a spiritual touchstone that grounds her artistic vision. Her relationship with Kastellorizo transcends that of artist and muse—it is a profound, almost mystical bond where the boundary between observer and landscape dissolves, allowing Joanne to capture not just the visual splendor, but the very essence and soul of this Mediterranean jewel.
